We think that's definitely a meaningful purchase! These crafts are also ecofriendly since they are finished with lac a natural, nontoxic resin secreted by microscopic tiny insects on tree bark. Lac is an organic nontoxic finish which is not chemically treated. This makes it perfectly safe for the artisans who are not exposed to any occupational hazards, and for you the user. Maya Organic only uses natural dyes that are blended with lac for colouring the products. Any wood waste generated (wood chips, wood dust etc) is used as raw material for the incense stick industry in Channapatna and surrounding areas.
