Organic Brown Sugar, 500g
We all cook and bake with brown sugar, but have you ever wondered what makes it brown? The answer is actually simple: brown sugar is made of crystalline sucrose combined with a small amount of molasses, which is responsible for its characteristic colour and rich caramel flavor. Brown sugar is used very similarly to granulated white sugar but it provides a touch of extra flavour and nutrition since it involves less processing than white suagr. Common uses for brown sugar include sweetening baked goods, beverages, sauces, and marinades. Some varieties of natural brown sugar are also used to make alcoholic beverages like rum. Thanks to the granules and slightly acidic pH, brown sugar has also become a popular ingredient in body scrubs.
Different Types of Brown Sugar:
Natural brown sugar is available in three types Turbinado, Muscovado and Demerara. Each type of natural brown sugar differs from another in the percentage of molasses present in it.
a) Muscovado: This brown sugar has a moist texture and strong molasses flavour. It is frequently used in marinades and barbeque dishes.
b) Turbinado: This is made from the initial and first pressing of sugarcane. It contains natural molasses and has a caramel flavour.
c) Demerara: This brown sugar is larger grained and is pale amber in colour. It has a sweet toffee flavour.
Brown sugar is believed to soothe menstrual pains in women. It also serves as a good antiaging treatment. It adds more vibrant brown colour to baked foods and also enhances their flavour. It is used for marinating meats and lending them a dusky colour and rich glaze.
Your Impact
Health impact
By now, the benefits of organic food to human and environmental health are well known. By adopting an organic diet, we safeguard our bodies against the many toxic chemicals used in agriculture, and ensure that the food we eat is tastier, safer, and far richer in nutrients. Brown rice, unlike polished white rice, has far more health benefits since it retains the full nutrition of the whole grain which is lost when grains are polished and processed.
Environmental impact
Going organic is also an important step to trigger a cycle of sustainability that protects the soil's fertility and keeps water bodies free from chemical pollution. In short, it is one of the best steps we can take to ensure that our future generation has access to safe natural resources and good, healthy food.
Social impact
By being part of the organic food revolution, you give thousands of rural farmers a reason to move away from poisonous chemical inputs. When they have a steady, reliable market for their products, it becomes economically viable for more and more Indian farmers to adopt the organic way that uses natural manures and plantbased pesticides, keeping them and their farms safe.
