The skin of the hibiscus stem is spun into yarn which is then dyed by hand and woven into these sturdy and colourful dining table essentials. The fibre, which is similar to jute, is becoming more popular because of its strength, biodegradability and environmental compatibility. Each runner + placemat set takes 34 days to complete and is made using ecofriendly dyes.

The Artisans
Eco Clocks Conservation Projects is a social enterprise that produces a range of ecofriendly lifestyle products. This organisation works largely with women members of economically backward communities in the villages surrounding Bangalore. All the processes involved in making these products are undertaken by hand by these artisans who earn a sustainable livelihood from them and become selfsufficient.
