Wearing the TruCup
1. How does your TruCup work?
Your Vagina needs a healthy companion that will be true to you and your body. A TruCup will gently find its place, surrounded by your vaginal membrane, IF WORN CORRECTLY. Your TruCup and a tampon have the same fundamental feature of insertion, but unlike a tampon a TruCup only collects not absorbs. Your trucompanion will move with you throughout the day as your body gets accustomed with the TruCup's siliconesoft presence.
2. How do I wear your TruCup?
Wearing your TruCup will take some practice. Every new activity as a beginner has a learning curve to it, just like riding a bike. Throw away all the inhibitions, myths and fears from your mind and try it out yourself. The base line for every woman is to know her vagina. And once you are familiar with your territory, wearing the TruCup will be an easy exercise.
TIP: As a beginner, try using it in the shower to ensure it slides in smoothly.
HANDWASH As a rule of thumb, always wash your hands before you wear your TruCup.
FOLD From the multiple folding methods, choose the one which you feel most comfortable with and fold the TruCup. Don't worry, it might take a few tries to nail it.
RELAX Breathe in and out. Let go of your inhibitions. Hold your folded TruCup firmly and guide it towards your vagina. You can stand, squat (advised for beginners), sit, or raise one of your legs. Again, comfort is key and try the posture where you are most at ease and balanced, to create an opening for the TruCup.
SEPARATE & WEAR Nice and easy, now! All you now need to do is relax your pelvic muscles and gently separate your labia with your other hand. Guide your TruCup into your vagina, pointing it upwards toward the base of your spine. Try to keep the TruCup folded until it is entirely inside of your vagina.
RELEASE The TruCup is now a part of you. Gently release the folded TruCup it will pop open and create a sealing suction automatically, holding it in place.
THE FINAL STEP Run a finger along the base of the TruCup to ensure that it has opened completely if you feel any folds, hold the base of the cup and gently rotate it until it opens completely and creates a sealing suction that's what the little holes on top of the TruCup are for.
Sidestep: Play your favourite track, optional but recommended and keep the grooving for later!
3. Can I use it overnight and would it smell?
Yes, you can without any worries. Sleep soundly with your TruCup all night long. Your TruCup does not smell, unless you have a habit of forgetting that it's inside you and wearing it for longer than 12 hours.
Removing the TruCup
1. How often do I remove/empty my TruCup?
TruCup is made from foodgrade silicone that is medically tested, hence, provides you a safe option of wearing it for a maximum 1012 hours. But, if you are a newbie to this, then you must empty it after 3 to 4 hours so as to have an insight of how much your TruCup fills with blood. This is a good way to understand how much you realistically bleed and create your own personalized emptying schedule.
2. What if I leave the TruCup in for more than 12 hours?
CALM DOWN! There is no sudden danger if you have the TruCup put in for more than 12 hours. It is suggested to remove the TruCup quite often to clean it in a proper manner.
But, if the issue does concern you, go and have a chat with your doctor.
3. What if I can't find my TruCup inside?
If you are unable to locate the TruCup, RELAX! You must have patience. Panicking will only make it worse. Remember there is no chance that a TruCup will disappear in your uterus, your TruCup has found its sweet spot to rest. TruCup's handy stem is built in for your comfort and to ensure you can locate the base of the TruCup. In case you still cant find it, just PEE! This way your muscles will get relaxed and the TruCup will move down and the stem moves further down. The TruCup won't drop if you pee for an extended period.
4. How do I remove my TruCup?
SQUAT.PINCH.PULL.
SQUAT: Sit on the toilet or squat on the floor with one of your leg resting on your toilet edge. The vagina gets shortened and your muscles relax, making it easier for you to locate your TruCup.
PINCH: Once have located the TruCup it is necessary that you destroy the suction seal created. Just pinch the TruCup around the stem area or squeeze the base of the TruCup. This way your suction seal breaks and it is easier to pull the TruCup.
PULL: The TruCup needs to be pulled gently from your vagina. Since you don't want to spill blood all around the floor, pull the TruCup out by making a sideways angle and make sure that you hold it in that way until it's out.
Cleaning & Storage of the TruCup
1. How do I clean my TruCup during my period?
The best method of cleaning the cup is to immerse your TruCup in boiling water, before first use and between periods for sterilization. You must soak your TruCup in hot water or under clean running water each time you remove and insert it. Remember to wash your hands prior to/post handling the TruCup.
When using a soap to clean the cup, keep it mild! Avoid using soaps with scented/frangranced/peppermint etc, vinegar, alcohol, dishwashing soap, baking soda, hand sanitizer, baking soda, bleach or any harsh chemicals to wash the TruCup. This can damage the silicone of the TruCup and lead to deterioration of the TruCup, reducing its lifetime.
In case you have to change your TruCup in a public toilet, bring a bottle of water to rinse your TruCup and reinsert it once at home, clean the inside again. Ensure that the four air holes are always clean and open. Always clean and empty your TruCup atleast twice a day (12 hour intervals are recommended).
2. How do I clean my TruCup holes/rim?
Make sure the holes on the rim of the TruCup are cleaned thoroughly gently stretch each hole under running water and clean each hole. The holes are of primary importance to secure the cup in place. You can also soak it in warm water and then use a soft toothbrush (put one aside for the TruCup!) to clean it.
3. Can I use a feminine hygiene wash to clean my menstrual cup?
Mild feminine washes created for menstrual cups can be used to wash the TruCup between cycles. Else, water and mild, unscented, oilfree soap can be utilized. While boiling the cup in an open pot for 510 minutes, DO NOT leave it unattended. Overboiling the cup in extremely hot water can burn the cup and immediately replace the TruCup.

Choosing your TruCup Size
1. Which TruCup size is apt for me? On what basis should I choose and make the decision?
The size of the TruCup would be determined more by what is the best vaginal fitment, rather than the flow of blood. Few factors to consider while choose are as follows
1. Flow: Generally, TruCup small has a 20 ml capacity, which is suitable for a regularmedium flow. However, if you have exceptionally heavy bleeding, TruCup large is recommended.
2. Age: If you are a teenager and under the age 30, TruCup small is recommended, If over 30, TruCup large is recommended
3. Pregnancy: If you have never given birth, TruCup small is recommended. If you have given birth vaginally, TruCup large is recommended.
4. Cervix: If you have a low cervix, TruCup small is recommended. If you have a high cervix, TruCup large is recommended.
2. What if I have heavy periods?
A menstrual TruCup holds a fairly good amount of fluid, but if you have a heavy flow and you have not conceived yet or you are under the age of 30, you may try out a larger TruCup. If that does not suit you, it is preferable to remove your TruCup often. Otherwise, TruCup large is generally recommended for menstruators who have given birth.
3. Lifespan
Your TruCup suggests you have your menstruation fabulously. The idea of a menstrual TruCup is to counterattack the issues of environmental degradation, inconvenience during your periods. Therefore, it is suggested that you clean your TruCup regularly to keep it in pristine condition. The lifespan of your TruCup completely depends on how it is taken care of if its cleaned properly, stored safely, used diligently etc. A TruCup will last you for years if you take care of it!
4. What is the Cervix? Is mine low/high?
This was new to us too when we started using the TruCup! We understand that not everyone knows if their cervix is high or not. And, before using TruCup it is NOT necessary to know the height of your cervix. Because TruCup is specifically designed with a long flat stem with 4 levels of length, that caters to women with either size of the cervix. It can be shortened if you have low cervix, once you start feeling comfortable with your TruCup. Do keep in mind that you cannot cut the stem beyond the third level for your own safety, this may lead to the TruCup leaking and difficult to locate.
4. How do I measure my Cervix?
To measure your cervix, you would have to suppose your index finger as your scale. Ensure that your finger is clean. Gently insert your finger in your vagina and feel the vaginal walls and after some time you will feel a firm area/nub Congratulations! That's your cervix.
LOW CERVIX (small vaginal canal): When you feel the cervix or a blockage (layman) less than the second phalanx of your index finger.
MEDIUM CERVIX: When you feel the cervix up to your second phalanx
HIGH CERVIX (long vaginal canal): When your finger is inserted completely, or you are unable to locate your cervix.
Life with TruCup
1. Can I play sports with the TruCup?
If you are a dancer, swimmer, trainer, gymnast or play any other sport then you know that pads and tampons probably cannot handle the certain angles of your body movement and due to which leakages happen that make to feel uncomfortable.
From hiking to sky diving, the TruCup is all you need. With the TruCup you don't have to look for a bathroom to change repeatedly in order to avoid any kind of leakages.
One small recommendation will be to avoid any kind of inversion exercises. During menstruation, inversion exercises may cause some bloating as the flow becomes against gravity. The feeling will only be weird and won't cause you any harm.
2. What can I do to inspire others to use TruCup?
Have you bought the TruCup yet? If yes, then perhaps you are one of the dedicated women who are concerned about their health and the health of the environment as well. Empowered menstruators enable others. Thus, bring out the educator, the doctor, the friend within you to help others and make them familiar with the truth that 'to liberate yourself, liberate your vagina.
Sex with TruCup
1. Can I have sex while wearing the TruCup?
Either it is the TruCup or the penis that goes into your vagina during your period! We do not recommend you the TruCup during intercourse. TruCup is made thicker and durable to give you a stressfree cycle. Having period sex is completely your choice and you can easily remove the TruCup for the duration of sex.
Firstly, don't take your period as a problem. You are menstruator and you were born with it! It makes you strong and unique, so you don't have to apologize or feel ashamed.
Secondly, to have great period sex communicating and talking honestly to your partner is the key!
Thirdly, using a condom is a must. Only reason for this is to avoid sexually transmitted infections/diseases. There are chances that you may get pregnant as well as some women ovulate early, and a sperm can survive up to seven days.
2. Can a teen/virgin use it if they are worried about hymen being intact?
The pelvic and vaginal muscles are tighter in teenagers and virgins. It is recommended that for younger menstruating women to use a smaller TruCup. Write to us for more details on this! Contrary to dated beliefs of the hymen's association to virginity, we have to understand the purpose of a hymen and how it can also break during playing various sports e.g. swimming, horse riding etc. There are also some women who born without it. Break the taboo in your head and read more about the (non)significance of the hymen!
Anatomy
1. What material is the TruCup made of? Is food grade silicone safe? Is it ok if I'm allergic to rubber/latex?
It is extremely rare for anyone to have silicone sensitivity, thus the reason for its use in producing menstrual cups. TruCup can be safely used in case of rubber/latex allergies as it is latexfree. It is even recommended to use silicon cups over latex based menstrual cups due to the high incidence of latex allergies. TruCup is made of soft, medicalgrade silicone, is hypoallergenic and contains no dyes, BPA, bleaches, phthalates, plastic, or toxins.
Above all, should you have any concerns about allergies, please consult your physician or dermatologist.
2. Can I wear my menstrual cups during yeast bacterial infections/UTI?
While yeast infections are a huge cause of discomfort, the situation gets more complicated if you get your period while you have the infection. However, during infection, sanitary napkins and panty liners should be avoided, because they end up promoting the growth of yeast.
It is VERY essential to let the lower area breathe. We recommend the use of TruCup for menstrual protection with the yeast infection as it allows the lower end to breathe while also maintaining the natural moisture balance. In case the infection is internal and the medicines prescribed are not orally taken (vaginal insertion of medicine is required), avoid using the Cup and opt for a cotton pad to ensure the lower end stays airy and breathes.
3. Can I use a menstrual cup if I have tipped or tilted uterus?
Like all parts of your body, your uterus also comes in different shapes and sizes.
Retroflexed (tipped towards the rectum and folded over)
Retroverted (tipped towards the rectum)
Anteflexed (tipped towards the bladder and folded over)
Anteverted (tipped towards the bladder)
For most people, the cup sits low enough that it doesn't matter how the cervix is tilted. The TruCup usually doesn't come into contact with the cervix. It also depends on how much your uterus is tipped either forwards or backwards. The menstrual cup learning curve for people with a more severely tipped uterus will involve some practice to understand which angle suits them the most when the cup is inserted. This can take a few cycles to get used to.
A medical professional will be able to check and explain the kind of uterus you have and offer more advise.
