Your Impact

Hemp is also called industrial hemp. It is the nonpsychoactive (less than 1% THC) variety of Cannabis sativa L. Hemp is a renewable resource that's one of the fastest growing and most versatile plants known to humans and it is used in thousands of products. Pull its fibre out and you get yarn; chop its stalks, you have construction material, paper and biofuel; its seeds and flowers are used in health foods, organic body care, and other nutraceuticals. Hemp also offers a multitude of environmental benefits, making it a favourable crop in regions facing water stress. As it grows, hemp breathes in CO2, eliminates pollutants from the soil, absorbs greenhouse gases, and prevents soil erosion. What's left after harvest breaks down, adding valuable nutrients to the soil. Hemp requires much less water to grow and almost no pesticides making it far more environmentally friendly than most traditional crops.

As a fibre, hemp is strong and holds its shape, making it a sustainable alternative to waterintensive cotton.

Why we like it

Hemp is the superhero of natural fibres! We love it for its low environmental impact and the fact that it is grown without pesticides and synthetic fertilizers and for its low water demand. As a fabric, it also offers superior comfort because of its moisturewicking property which allows your skin to breathe, keeping you cool when it's hot and warm when it's not.

Nitin says

The hemp fabric of this shirt has a soft feel to it and stands up to extensive wear.  It looks good teamed with jeans, khakis or shorts, and I love its ethnic appeal. By simply adding a few pieces of wellmade, longlasting, ecofriendly clothing to your wardrobe, you can minimise your carbon footprint and take a step towards greener fashion.
