Who is The Yellow Bag?

Krishnan Subramanian and Gowri R G started The Yellow Bag with a mission to create products that would improve conscious consuming behaviour and leave a smaller environmental footprint by replacing singleuse plastic bags and cutting down the trash they produce. The Maduraibased enterprise develops economical and practical alternatives to replace useandthrow products like plastic bags, packaging pocuhes and gift bags. They now work with women's groups in villages, and few small enterprises, to make the cloth bags better and cheaper. Fabric is sourced from in and around Madurai. It is cut and printed at the inhouse unit and distributed to the network of allwomen tailors who are trained in the production of cloth bags. They stitch the bags after which a quality check is done before they are sent off to customers. Their work gives them a sustainable livelihood and a regular income, besides giving the woemn artisans opportunities to occupy leadership positions.
